1 John 2:27

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Nahum 3 - Zehariah 14 (p. 1170)

~Thanks to Aunt Jennifer for pointing out to me about the boxes with the red x's!  Looks like my draft versions show the pictures, but somewhere it was getting lost in translation.  Some sites won't let you use their pictures I guess.  Thanks for the heads up!~
Nahum 3
:11 - seek strength because of the enemy~a good reason, but who needs a reason to seek strength!?  Enemies of this project have already arisen, thinking it is a waste of time or nothingness...just something to do for having nothing better to do.  Ha!  Come strength come!
:14 - brickkiln = Hebrew word #4404 = 1) brick mold, brick kiln, quadrangle
a) brick mould, brick kiln
b) quadrangle

(By the way, when I put a link like this under something, it indicates I am referencing my statements from that website link.  You should be able to just click on it to see the page I am quoting or referring to.)
Habakkuk 1
Habakkuk's name means "embrace." http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H2265&t=KJV
Habakkuk 2
:1-:3 - I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
~Sometimes I have to just quote the whole verses.  I know that helps for those reading only the notes and not the text...although I hope at some point we all do read the text.  It is really life changing.  This particular passage inspires me to keep writing! Make it plain upon the online table! ~
:5 - Does this mean men were supposed to stay home back then?  So maybe stay-at-home-moms are actually a role reversal, instead of visa versa.  Ha!  What a thought!
:14 - For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
~Yes, I am counting on it.
:20 - But the LORD [is] in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. ~Where is the temple now? *Rhetorical...
Habakkuk 3
:1 - Shigionoth = the word itself is defined in strong's as vague and "meaning doubtful," but says it was used in Psalms 7.  The root word, H7686 means to go astray, commit sin of ignorance or inadvertence, swerve, meander, reel, be intoxicated.  Certainly these OT prophets know how to wake up the backslider.  FIRE!
http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H7692&t=KJV & http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H7686&t=KJV
:13 - wentest forth for salvation = H3318 http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H3318&t=KJV ~I like the idea of God being proactive always in saving his people, and this verse specifically refers to God's anointed
:17 - Fig tree didn't blossom for Jesus, either.
:19 - Was it this verse only intended for the chief singer?  Or the whole book is to be sort of a Psalm/Song of warning sung by the singer?
Zephaniah 1
Zephaniah = the Lord hides / treasures / stores up http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H6846&t=KJV

http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H3050&t=KJV
Zephaniah 2
Lots of verbs:  Gather, bring forth, seek
:3 - righteousnes and meekness is a refuge from God's anger
Zephaniah 3
:8  - What a determination for God to have!
:9 - Pure language.  Can only come from God.
:11 - haughty because of God's mountain.  Nothing to be prideful about, but how often do we get prideful over what we've been given?  And what do we have that we haven't been given somehow?
:12 - God left poor people INTENTIONALLY.  Hard to grasp, but it's right there.
:13 - Qualities of the remnant of Israel
~Kind words begin (finally)~
:17 - The LORD thy God in the midst of thee [is] mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. ~What does God singing sound like?  Here's what this verse looks like in Hebrew:יְהוָה אֱלֹהַיִךְ בְּקִרְבֵּך גִּבֹּור יֹושִׁיעַ יָשִׂישׂ עָלַיִךְ
בְּשִׂמְחָה יַחֲרִישׁ בְּאַהֲבָתֹו יָגִיל עָלַיִךְ בְּרִנָּֽה׃
http://www.blueletterbible.org/tools/printerFriendly.cfm?b=Zep&c=3&v=1&t=WLC#topHaggai 1
Shealtiel, Zerubbabel, Josedech
:4 - cieled houses ~ I have and could and will again preach on this.  Not now.
:9 - my house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house~ God speaks here.  Discouraged by peoples' selfishness in providing for themselves.
:14 - God stirred up the governor, the high priest, and the remnant people. Sometimes it's good to pray for God to stir the authorities.Haggai 2
:4 - ...be strong... and work... for I am with you~I still believe one of the greatest prayers is to work.  Actually physically with ones' hands.  It quiets the mind.
:6 - Shake the heavens, earth, sea, and dry land AGAIN, o God!
:7 - First comes the shaking, then comes the glory!
:9 - Latter glory vs. former glory.  God always gives us something to look forward to!  Somewhere to go!  Something to press into!  Thank God, or for some it would be "Game Over!"
Zechariah 1
Berechiah, Iddo - middle name - last name = Father's name - Grandpa's name
:8 - red horse in myrtle trees with red and white horses.
:13 - The Lord speaks to his angel with good and comfortable words.  Let me be an angel!

:19 - 4 horns - Lots of 4's lately.  I've heard it represents creation.  Creating.  To create.
:20 - 4 carpenters
Zechariah 2
:13 - BE SILENT, O ALL FLESH - A fasting prayer.
Zechariah 3
Zechariah dreams of Joshua in filthy clothes and oppressed by Satan, who is at his right hand.
:5 - fair miter = turban or headdress http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H6797&t=KJVZechariah 4
Gold candlestick - bowl on top - 7 lamps on it - 7 pipes on the lamps - 2 olive trees by it.  What a vision!  So many interpretations.  I love just reading the Word not trying to figure it out.  Just being in it and letting the Holy Ghost teach me what He wants when He wants, and put the rest on the shelf, as it were...and in the mean time, like a child, I enjoy the literal picture of how this may have looked!

:6 - Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This [is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Interesting article on this chapter (Click on the link to read it) http://www.bible-light.com/BLON/STAR_V30-1_1998-02/feb98a32.htm
:10 - Who hath despised the day of small things? ~ Sometimes, but not today!
:12 - :14 - Interpretation of the vision of the 2 olive branches that go through the 2 pipes that empty the golden oil.  Anointed ones.
Zechariah 5
:2 - Z. knew the dimensions of the flying roll he saw in his dream.  Cool.
:6 - ephah = a measuring cup http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H374&t=KJV
:9 - women with wind in their wings
:11 - Shinar = country of two rivers = ancient name for Babylonia or Chaldea http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H8152&t=KJV
Zechariah 6
4 chariots from 2 brass mountains
red, black, white, grizzled and bay horses

:8 - quieted my spirit in the north country
:12 - BRANCH = sprout or spring (Strongs H6780)
Zechariah 7

:3 - Every 5th and 7th month was for weeping, fasting, and separation
Zechariah 8
:5 -Streets full of children playing
:3 - Jerusalem = city of truth
:16 - Speak truth and execute judgment of truth and peace in your gates
:23 - Reminds me of Isaiah 4:1 in the sense of taking hold of the skirt.  Also reminds me of the NT story of the woman with the issue of blood.  Urgency.  Emergency.
Zechariah 9
Judgment against Israel's enemies
:9 - Prophetic reference to Jesus - fulfilled riding into town like we celebrate on Palm Sunday
Zechariah 10
:2 - no shepherd - why I don't agree with "body ministries" that have no head or leader
Zechariah 11
:7 - 2 staves = Beauty and Bonds
:12 - Breaking the stave of beauty rod = breaking the covenant
:13 - 30 pieces of silver to the potter in the house of the Lord ~ reminds me of course of Judas who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver.  But casting it into the Lord's potter house?  Interesting.  Learning experience to give wages back to the Lord no matter how they were earned?
:14 - Breaking the bonds rod = breaking the brotherhood
Zechariah 12
My Bible titles this chapter "Jerusalem's Enemies to be Destroyed"
Zechariah 13
:6 - wounded in the house of friends - Sad, but so true and so relatable.  People close to us are the only ones that really know how to hurt us sometimes.  And we expect love, but receive something else.
:7 - Smite the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered - See note on Zech 10:2.  Also, how many times have preachers in the public eye fallen from grace and then been shunned by even Christians and then used as an excuse to unbelievers?  Smited = scattered.
Zechariah 14
What shall be.

Through Nahum 2 (p.1140)

This post is dedicated to my paternal grandparents in El Paso, TX, who
I am so thankful to have still with us!  Love you Grandma & Grandpa!  Praying for your feet and lungs and decisions!
**I have been informed that people who receive the post by email cannot always see the pictures I post within the blog...that it looks like a square with a red 'x' in the middle.  This can perhaps be solved by visiting the live post online at:  http://readingthebibleinoneyear.blogspot.com/
(You will be reading the same thing that is in the email, but the pictures and videos and links will show up.)
Joel 3
:2 - All nations will be gathered in the Jehoshaphat valley
:6 - sold to the Grecians - perhaps having to do with the "prince of Grecia" mentioned in Daniel 10?
:14 - valley of decision
:21 - cleanse the blood
Amos 1
:1 - Amos was a "herdman" of Tekoa.  Is that the same as a shepherd?  I think of that wonderful book, The Alchemist...
:7 - Gaza wall

Amos 2
Amos loves fire!
Amos 3
:3 - Can two walk together, except they be agreed? ~ Perhaps why Jesus later says to agree quickly with your enemy while you're in the way...
:7 - Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.~ God doesn't have to live by limits, but occasionally He does.
:14 -
The horns of the altar being cut off and falling to the ground seems to represent such utter destruction.  I have never seen an altar with horns, so I don't really pick up on this intesity.

Amos 4
Listing God's efforts in causing a returning.
Amos 5
:6 - Seek the Lord and ye shall live ~ How can we live without seeking Him?  How can we have time without Him?  What does seeking Him look like to me?
:8 - 7 stars and Orion
:14 - Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live ~ These concepts seem like common sense, but I've found in ministry that what seems like it should be common sense isn't always.
:15 - Hate the evil, and love the good. ~ Again, a should-be-given.
:16 - skillfull of lamentation ~ I thank God my calling in life is not to be a professional mourner.  I'm sure this still does exist in some parts of the world.
:18, :20 - Day of the Lord = darkness
:26 - Moloch tabernacle ~ * I really believe a sermon is coming on for this Moloch concept.  Many of God's precious ones have been offered up in the fire by authority in their lives, just as Moloch offered up children in the fire to their gods.  And I know this still angers God.
Amos 6
:5 - sound of the viol - violin?
:12 - hemlock = bitterness, wormwood
Amos 7
:4 - contend by fire - devoured the great deep ~ Something God has not promised never to do again upon the earth.
:7 - wall plumbline and holding plumbline ~ This is the only book in the Bible this word is used.

Amos 8
:11 - Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: ~ This is why I preach.  And this is not famine for the Bible.  Notice it is not famine for the word of the Lord, but of the HEARING of that word.
Amos 9
:2 - Dig into hell - climb into heaven ~ either way God is going to bring you back
:9 - sifting Israel like corn in a sieve
:15 - And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God. ~ Plant us again, o God!
Obadiah
:1 - rumor from the Lord
:7 - confederacy
:13 - day of calamity
:12, :14 - day of distress
:17 - Mt. Zion = deliverance and holiness
:21 - And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S. ~ Just thinking about how I never knew this was even in the Bible as a baptist.
Jonah 1
:12 - Cast me into the sea ~I really can't imagine ever saying that myself.  Did Jonah know God had a big friendly fish out there waiting to swallow him into the holding tank?  Holy think tank?  Or did he just want to die?  Brave words.
:17 - Yep, it says a great fish, which technically speaking would mean it couldn't be a whale, since whales are mammals...but I don't think they made that distinction back then.
Jonah 2
:4 - looking toward the temple ~ an act of reverence or remembering perhaps where power comes from...literally - which direction.  I believe part of what is lacking in Christianity today (if you will, as it were, so to speak) is that grounded-ness of physical direction at times.  No, we don't have to do any of these things anymore, but it might help to start doing something literal.
:8 - lying vanities ~ wow.  What a phrase.  And people will really listen to you if you roll these off the tongue, too.
Jonah 3
Ninevah and God both repent.
Jonah 4
:5 - Jonah watches from a booth outside the city to see if the prophecy he had to deliver comes to pass...or to see God's mercy.  Or just to see.
Micah 1
:9 - incurable wound
Micah 2
:2 - BIG WORLD - lots of land
:7 - spirit of the Lord straightened???
Micah 3
:7 - no answer of God ~ been there.
:11 - divine for money ~ still happens today.  Palm readers, for instance.
Micah 4
:3 - Another reference to beating swords into plowshears and spears into pruninghooks
:~ Yes, there are times to change jobs in God.  And he gives us that transition period and the power to change our own tools into what we will need for the next duties.
10 - labor to bring forth - daughter of Zion ~ I have a very personal powerful experience from God on this.
Micah 5
:2 - But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, [though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah, [yet] out of thee shall he come forth unto me [that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth [have been] from of old, from everlasting. ~ No harm in being a small work of God!  Actually, I don't think any of His works are small!
:12 - Do it again, God!

Micah 6
:8 - He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

:16 - Omri = servant or pupil of Jehovah
http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?strongs=H6018

Micah 7
:1 - firstripe fruit
:5 - Don't trust friends or guides
:6 - Enemies can be in your own family or house
Nahum 1
:2 - GOD IS JEALOUS
:3 - The Lord has has way in whirlwinds
:6 - Thank God for the NT!  It's coming soon!
Nahum 2
:13 - voice of thy messengers (lions or prophets or both?)
