1 John 2:27

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Through Nahum 2 (p.1140)

This post is dedicated to my paternal grandparents in El Paso, TX, who
I am so thankful to have still with us!  Love you Grandma & Grandpa!  Praying for your feet and lungs and decisions!
**I have been informed that people who receive the post by email cannot always see the pictures I post within the blog...that it looks like a square with a red 'x' in the middle.  This can perhaps be solved by visiting the live post online at:  http://readingthebibleinoneyear.blogspot.com/
(You will be reading the same thing that is in the email, but the pictures and videos and links will show up.)
Joel 3
:2 - All nations will be gathered in the Jehoshaphat valley
:6 - sold to the Grecians - perhaps having to do with the "prince of Grecia" mentioned in Daniel 10?
:14 - valley of decision
:21 - cleanse the blood
Amos 1
:1 - Amos was a "herdman" of Tekoa.  Is that the same as a shepherd?  I think of that wonderful book, The Alchemist...
:7 - Gaza wall

Amos 2
Amos loves fire!
Amos 3
:3 - Can two walk together, except they be agreed? ~ Perhaps why Jesus later says to agree quickly with your enemy while you're in the way...
:7 - Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.~ God doesn't have to live by limits, but occasionally He does.
:14 -
The horns of the altar being cut off and falling to the ground seems to represent such utter destruction.  I have never seen an altar with horns, so I don't really pick up on this intesity.

Amos 4
Listing God's efforts in causing a returning.
Amos 5
:6 - Seek the Lord and ye shall live ~ How can we live without seeking Him?  How can we have time without Him?  What does seeking Him look like to me?
:8 - 7 stars and Orion
:14 - Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live ~ These concepts seem like common sense, but I've found in ministry that what seems like it should be common sense isn't always.
:15 - Hate the evil, and love the good. ~ Again, a should-be-given.
:16 - skillfull of lamentation ~ I thank God my calling in life is not to be a professional mourner.  I'm sure this still does exist in some parts of the world.
:18, :20 - Day of the Lord = darkness
:26 - Moloch tabernacle ~ * I really believe a sermon is coming on for this Moloch concept.  Many of God's precious ones have been offered up in the fire by authority in their lives, just as Moloch offered up children in the fire to their gods.  And I know this still angers God.
Amos 6
:5 - sound of the viol - violin?
:12 - hemlock = bitterness, wormwood
Amos 7
:4 - contend by fire - devoured the great deep ~ Something God has not promised never to do again upon the earth.
:7 - wall plumbline and holding plumbline ~ This is the only book in the Bible this word is used.

Amos 8
:11 - Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: ~ This is why I preach.  And this is not famine for the Bible.  Notice it is not famine for the word of the Lord, but of the HEARING of that word.
Amos 9
:2 - Dig into hell - climb into heaven ~ either way God is going to bring you back
:9 - sifting Israel like corn in a sieve
:15 - And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God. ~ Plant us again, o God!
Obadiah
:1 - rumor from the Lord
:7 - confederacy
:13 - day of calamity
:12, :14 - day of distress
:17 - Mt. Zion = deliverance and holiness
:21 - And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S. ~ Just thinking about how I never knew this was even in the Bible as a baptist.
Jonah 1
:12 - Cast me into the sea ~I really can't imagine ever saying that myself.  Did Jonah know God had a big friendly fish out there waiting to swallow him into the holding tank?  Holy think tank?  Or did he just want to die?  Brave words.
:17 - Yep, it says a great fish, which technically speaking would mean it couldn't be a whale, since whales are mammals...but I don't think they made that distinction back then.
Jonah 2
:4 - looking toward the temple ~ an act of reverence or remembering perhaps where power comes from...literally - which direction.  I believe part of what is lacking in Christianity today (if you will, as it were, so to speak) is that grounded-ness of physical direction at times.  No, we don't have to do any of these things anymore, but it might help to start doing something literal.
:8 - lying vanities ~ wow.  What a phrase.  And people will really listen to you if you roll these off the tongue, too.
Jonah 3
Ninevah and God both repent.
Jonah 4
:5 - Jonah watches from a booth outside the city to see if the prophecy he had to deliver comes to pass...or to see God's mercy.  Or just to see.
Micah 1
:9 - incurable wound
Micah 2
:2 - BIG WORLD - lots of land
:7 - spirit of the Lord straightened???
Micah 3
:7 - no answer of God ~ been there.
:11 - divine for money ~ still happens today.  Palm readers, for instance.
Micah 4
:3 - Another reference to beating swords into plowshears and spears into pruninghooks
:~ Yes, there are times to change jobs in God.  And he gives us that transition period and the power to change our own tools into what we will need for the next duties.
10 - labor to bring forth - daughter of Zion ~ I have a very personal powerful experience from God on this.
Micah 5
:2 - But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, [though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah, [yet] out of thee shall he come forth unto me [that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth [have been] from of old, from everlasting. ~ No harm in being a small work of God!  Actually, I don't think any of His works are small!
:12 - Do it again, God!

Micah 6
:8 - He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

:16 - Omri = servant or pupil of Jehovah

Micah 7
:1 - firstripe fruit
:5 - Don't trust friends or guides
:6 - Enemies can be in your own family or house
Nahum 1
:2 - GOD IS JEALOUS
:3 - The Lord has has way in whirlwinds
:6 - Thank God for the NT!  It's coming soon!
Nahum 2
:13 - voice of thy messengers (lions or prophets or both?)
