1 John 2:27

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Deuteronomy 1-18 (p. 270 in my Bible)

The" "fifth of these books was called by the Greeks Deuteronomion," "i.e., the second law, hence our name Deuteronomy, or a second" statement of the laws already promulgated. The Jews designated "the book by the two first Hebrew words that occur, _'Elle" "haddabharim_, i.e., "These are the words." ~http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Deuteronomy.php4
Holy Ghost teach me....
Deuteronomy 1
:6 - God tells them "ye have dwelt long enough in this mount."  God has told me similar words...as in, "It's time to move!"
:8 - It becomes a little unclear who is speaking to whom between God & Moses.  I like that.  Being so consumed in prayer...like not being able to tell whose heartbeat you feel when holding hands with someone...yours or theirs.
:28 - sons of Anakims - a tribe of giants, descendants of Anak, which dwelled in southern Canaan ~http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?strongs=H6062
:42 - God actually tells them not to go up and possess/fight a certain area.  I am not among you.  Kinda goes against the idea that God is everywhere.

Deuteronomy 2

:3 - Time to move again..."ye have compassed this mountain long enough."
:4 - Mt. Seir
:20 - Zamzummims (What a great name!) ="plotters" 1) the Ammonite name for the people who by others were called Rephaim, and were described as a numerous nation of giants; perhaps the same as 'Zuzim' ~http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H2157&t=KJV
:24 - Must make sure I read with my eyes as well as ears because this audio Bible sometimes says the wrong word.  Said hand instead of land here.
:30 - God hardened the kings spirit even though Moses sent messengers with words of peace (:26) to the king of Heshbon requesting to give them passage to the land over the Jordan.  God wanted a fight! He wanted the C.O.I. to kill all the people in the land and possess the land.  They didn't kill the cattle, though (:35).  It is just mind-boggling to have my childhood picture of the story of the C.O.I. in the wilderness.  Massive killings of entire cities was never part of my childhood Bible story books...instigated by God Himself, no less.

Deuteronomy 3
:5 - Many cities were in each kingdom/land that they possessed.  It is noted that this land had walls, gates, and bars...extra obstacles they had to overcome.
:11 - Og king of Bashan had an iron bed that was 9 x 4 cubits (4.5 meters by 2 meters, or 13.5  ft. by 6 ft.)cubit - a measure of distance (the forearm), roughly 18 in (.5m) ~http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H520&t=KJV

:27 - Moses learns that he does not get to go into the promiseland.  Poor guy.
       Mt. Pisgah.

Deuteronomy 4

:24 - God is a consuming fire.  A jealous God.
In this chapter Moses reminds the C.O.I. how miraculous of a people they are because of how God has led them.  He also prophecies to them that they will not remain in the promised land forever, but will be scattered.  And the ever famous scripture quote comes in this prophecy: But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. (:29)

Deuteronomy 5
10 commandments are re-stated.  Moses encourages them to keep all commandments with the consequence of extending their time in the promised land.

Deuteronomy 6

Re-interating the commandments for the promised land.
:3 - This time with a consequence of increase mightily
:6-:9 - Put the commandments all over their lives, in their routines, even on their house.
:10- :11 - Consequence of inheriting cities they didn't build, full houses they didn't fill, wells they didn't dig, vineyards and olive trees they didn't plant.
:20 - Tell the story to the children so generations will remember.

Deuteronomy 7

:1 - So many "ites"
:3 - no inter-marriage
:13 - "And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee."  I just love the poetry of this beautiful promise.

Deuteronomy 8
2: - A reason is given for all those years in the wilderness!  To humble and prove them-to know what was in their heart & if they would keep God's commandments.
:3 - Here is the verse we know from Jesus' temptation in his wilderness:  man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
:19 - Again God warns against serving other gods.  Either he knew it would be a huge temptation or was trying to stop what he knew was inevitable...or both.  Probably both.  Usually is with God.

Deuteronomy 9

Moses summarizes again their wilderness journey.
I am beginning to wonder what would have happened if Moses had not begged God to not destroy the C.O.I.  Would we have had another Noah and the Ark situation?  Or not because C.O.I. aren't the whole world.

Deuteronomy 10

:14 - heaven of heavens - so there are more than one?  The three times heaven is stated all use the same Hebrew word: Strongs #8064- 1) heaven, heavens, sky a) visible heavens, sky
                           1) as abode of the stars
                           2) as the visible universe, the sky,  atmosphere, etc
                     b) Heaven (as the abode of God)
:17 - God does not regard persons or take reward.
:18-:19 - I love how much strangers are mentioned.  No stranger danger mindset for C.O.I.!
:22 - C.O.I. increased number in the wilderness

Deuteronomy 11

Very repetetive reminder to keep commandments.
:26-28 - a blessing and curse are given together.  Both conditional.
Deuteronomy 12

:14 - They couldn't choose where they had church - gave their offerings - worshipped.  It had to be in one place that the LORD chose.
:24 - again, commandment is made to not eat blood.
:32 - I often hear people quote the last verse of the book of Revelation, which is quite similar to this verse.  If they quoted this verse with the connotation they give to the last yerse of Revelation (i.e.-that nothing should be added to scripture) then no one would read any of the Bible past Deuteronomy 12.

Deuteronomy 13

:1-3 - Warning to not follow false prophets who want them to serve other gods, even if their signs, wonders, and prophecies come to pass.
More specific instructions on keeping from serving other gods.

Deuteronomy 14

:2 - Israel was called a peculiar people, too! [peculiar =1) possession, property a) valued property, peculiar treasure b) treasure]
Eating meat laws.
:22 - Tithe was commanded on their increase of the field.
:28 - Tiithe is collected after 3 years.

Deuteronomy 15

The Lord's Release.  Wow!  If we did this, there would be no national deficit!  No bad credit!  Every 7 years loans were released.
:12 - Slaves were released.
:19 - 20 - Firstlings of the herds were not worked, but eaten.

Deuteronomy 16

:1 - Abib is Passover.  Passover instructions.
Review of feasts instructions.
:21 - Commandment not to plant trees near the altar of the Lord God--apparently a tradition of the worshippers of other gods.

Deuteronomy 17

:1 - No blemished sacrifices.
:6 - Death sentence specifics.
:9 - Priests, Levites, and judges gave sentences for matters.  These judgments were just as strict as God's.
:12 - Listening to the ministers was vital.  It was presumptuous not to listen to them ministering before the Lord.  Punishable by death.  Whew!  That would sure stop people from sleeping in church these days!
:18 - :19 - Prophecy that Israel would ask for a king.  Instructions for this king.  The king must read these laws of Deuteronomy that he may learn to fear the LORD.  Even kings must learn.

Deuteronomy 18
:1 - Levites again are declared to have no inheritance with Israel...that the Lord is their inheritance
:3 - maw = stomach ~http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H6896&t=KJV
:8 - sale of his patrimonypatrimony = # 1 Hebrew (av) in the Strong's Concordance =1) father of an individual
18:1-8 Care is taken that the priests entangle not themselves with the affairs of this life, nor enrich themselves with the wealth of this world; they have better things to mind. Care is likewise taken that they want not the comforts and conveniences of this life. The people must provide for them. He that has the benefit of solemn religious assemblies, ought to give help for the comfortable support of those that minister in such assemblies.

:9 - More when you come into the land instructions.  A second set, if you count the wilderness instructions as the first set
:15 - Listen to the Prophet God will send.

18:8 Like portions - With their brethren who were in actual ministration: as they share with them in the work, so shall they in the encouragements. Beside that which cometh - The reason of this law was, because he that waited on the altar, ought to live by the altar: and because it was fit he should keep his money, wherewith he might redeem what he sold, if afterwards he saw occasion for it.
